Solenium Group (www.soleniuminc.com) launched Visual SKUs in 2009, to offer its product imaging solutions, developed for the Automotive Aftermarket, to various product-centric industries. For over 25 years, Solenium has provided the Automotive Aftermarket with services and software solutions for electronic data management.
Since 2001, Solenium's on-site imaging solution has successfully captured and processed over 150,000 images, for some of the biggest names in the Automotive Aftermarket, including Federal Mogul, Dana, Dorman, Seimans, Continental, Mahle, Autopart International, Moog, Wagner and Felpro.
Product Imaging Challenges
Visual SKUs provides solutions for businesses that produce, distribute or retail large numbers of products. These solutions were initially developed to meet the needs of companies in the Automotive Aftermarket, an industry that is estimated to have upwards of two million products on the market at any one time.
Over the last decade, the Automotive Aftermarket has rapidly moved towards distributing product data electronically and selling products via ecommerce systems. In response, the industry’s major retailers have begun to request that manufacturers provide multiple images of all their products, for use in electronic catalogs and ecommerce sites.

4. Product imaging standardization
In 2005, the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association published Automotive Aftermarket: Imaging Best Practices, authored by Solenium. This document has since become the de facto industry standard for image acquisition, processing, formatting and distribution.
